Custom Duck Decoy Rigs
Because all of our rigs are made in Clear Lake, Iowa, we can also custom make any decoy rig you may need.
We love working with hunters to create a set of rigs that perfect suit the water depth you’re most frequently hunting over.
Here are the 4 things we need to know in order to create your custom decoy rigs:
- Sinker Type: Mushroom or Egg
- Decoy Rig Cable Type: Monofilament or PVC
- Decoy Rig Length: 12 to 225 inches.
- Decoy Rig Weight: 2 oz - 20 oz.
Your rigs will be made according to your specifications and assembled in our Clear Lake, Iowa workshop and then shipped directly to you.

Custom Length Decoy Rigs
We’ll make any length decoy rig you request, but here are some of the guidelines we’ve developed based off of our years of experience and talking with hunters all over the United States.
Marshes & Shallow Sloughs
- Anticipated Depth: 6-24 in
- Recommended Rig Length: 36-48 in
- Why: Shorter rigs reduce tangling and keep decoys riding realistically in shallow water. Great for walk-in hunts where mobility matters.
Small Lakes, Backwaters, and Beaver Ponds
- Anticipated Depth: 24-48 in
- Recommended Rig Length: 36-48 in
- Why: Offers enough line for changing water levels or uneven bottoms while still keeping setup quick and manageable.
Rivers & Tidal Areas
- Anticipated Depth: 36-48 in
- Recommended Rig Length: 48-60 in
- Why: Extra length helps anchor the decoy in moving water and avoids pulling the decoy unnaturally with shifting current or tides.
Large Lakes & Reservoirs
- Anticipated Depth: 60-96 in
- Recommended Rig Length: 60-72 in
- Why: In deeper, open water you need a longer rig to keep decoys anchored without drifting and to allow for changing wind and wave conditions.
Coastal or Deepwater Setups
- Anticipated Depth: 72-144+ in
- Recommended Rig Length: 72-96+ in
- Why: Deepwater hunting demands long rigs for secure anchoring and natural movement in rolling swells. Longer rigs also allow more flexibility when hunting from boats or layout blinds.
